Frequently Asked Questions
A traditional sauna heats the air and the stones, running roughly 160-195°F, and lets you pour water over the stones for steam and humidity. An infrared sauna heats your body directly with radiant panels at a much lower air temperature, around 120-150°F. Traditional gives you the classic Finnish experience and the steam burst; infrared heats up faster, uses less power, and many models run on a standard household outlet. Combination units offer both in a single room.
Indoor saunas suit a spare bathroom, basement, or dedicated wellness room, and are protected from the weather so they need less upkeep over time. Outdoor saunas free up interior space, generally seat more people, and give you the walk out into cold air that makes contrast bathing work. Outdoor units need a prepared foundation and weather-rated construction; indoor units need proper ventilation and moisture-tolerant surroundings.
Start with how many people will realistically use it at once, then add bench length for anyone who wants to lie down. A two-person cabin fits in roughly five feet square. Four to six people generally needs six to eight feet of width. Keep in mind that a larger room requires a larger heater and a heavier electrical service, so cabin size drives your installation cost as much as the purchase price. Get in touch and we will help you size it against your space.
Heater output is matched to the interior volume of the room, then adjusted for glass area, insulation quality, and whether the sauna sits indoors or outdoors. Most residential rooms land between 6kW and 9kW. Send us your dimensions and we will spec it properly. An undersized heater never reaches temperature, and an oversized one wastes power and dries the room out.
Electric suits indoor rooms and anyone who wants scheduled or remote start. You press a button and walk away. Wood-burning suits outdoor cabins, off-grid builds, and anyone who wants the fire itself to be part of the ritual. Wood stoves need a chimney, correct clearances, and often a permit, but require no electrical service at all.
Most traditional saunas require a 220-240V hardwired connection on a dedicated breaker, sized to the heater output, plus a separate 120V circuit for lighting and controls. Many infrared cabins are the exception and run on a standard 120V outlet. A licensed electrician must complete the wiring. We will confirm the exact amperage and wire gauge for your model before you order so you can get a quote in advance.
A level, load-bearing surface. A concrete pad is ideal. A properly reinforced deck or a compacted gravel base can work depending on the model, its weight, and your climate. Always confirm the footprint and weight against the manufacturer documentation before you pour, and we will send you those specifications on request.
It depends on your city and county. Outdoor structures often trigger setback and foundation requirements, and wood-burning stoves frequently require a permit and inspection. Electrical work almost always does. Check with your local building department before ordering. It is a short call that prevents an expensive surprise later.
Most modular cabin kits go together in four to six hours with two people and basic tools. Barrel saunas and larger cabins take longer. Pre-assembled units arrive largely built and need only siting and connection. Every kit ships with an installation manual, and we are happy to send it to you before you purchase so you know exactly what is involved.
Yes. Traditional saunas need an air intake near the heater and a high exhaust to circulate air and keep sessions comfortable. Most cabin kits have this built in. Indoor installations also need the surrounding space to handle moisture, which matters most in basements and interior rooms without windows.
We do not install. Delivery is curbside, and assembly and electrical work are handled by you or a contractor of your choosing. Sauna heaters, controls, and lighting must be wired by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local codes. We will supply the documentation your electrician and contractor need.
Most in-stock orders ship within 3-5 business days. After shipment, estimated delivery is typically 5-15 business days depending on your location and carrier. Sauna cabins and larger units are often made to order and can take longer, and we will give you a realistic lead time before you buy. You will receive a tracking number by email within 24 hours of your order leaving the warehouse.
Warranty coverage varies by manufacturer and product. Most sauna cabins carry a two-year manufacturer warranty, and heaters and electronics carry their own terms that differ by brand. Please refer to the product page or included documentation for specifics. Warranties are provided by the manufacturer, and we are happy to connect you with them if you have a claim. Note that improper installation, modification, and commercial use of residential equipment typically void coverage.

No. Standard curbside delivery means the carrier delivers to the curb or end of your driveway only. The driver is not required to bring items into your home, garage, or backyard, and delivery does not include unpacking, assembly, or installation. Sauna cabins often arrive on two or more pallets, so plan for at least two people and a way to move heavy crates.
For freight deliveries, the carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Specific time windows cannot be guaranteed, but you can coordinate directly with the carrier. Please make sure someone is available to receive and inspect the shipment.
If your order contains multiple items from different suppliers, they may ship separately and arrive at different times. A sauna cabin and its heater, for example, frequently ship apart. You will receive individual tracking information for each shipment.

Wait until the sauna is fully heated, usually 30 to 45 minutes, so the stones vaporize water instantly. Use a ladle and pour one or two small amounts directly onto the stones, never onto the heating elements. Stand back as you pour, because steam rises fast and will burn. Let the stones reheat between pours. Use clean fresh water only, since mineral-heavy or chlorinated water damages stones and elements over time.
Inspect them at least once a year, or after roughly 300 hours of use. With regular use, plan to replace annually. Lighter use stretches that to two or three years. Replace sooner if the room is slow to heat, if stones are crumbling, or if airflow through the heater is blocked. Replace the full set at once rather than piecemeal.
Rinse them first to remove dust and discard any that are cracked. Stack loosely so air moves freely, since packing them tight is the most common cause of poor heating. Place larger stones at the bottom and smaller ones on top. Never bury the heating elements completely.
Wipe benches and walls with a soft damp cloth after each session, and leave the door open for 30 to 60 minutes to air out. Use mild soap and water for a deeper clean, and never bleach, harsh chemicals, or abrasive tools on sauna wood. Wash buckets, ladles, and headrests weekly. Check corners and under benches for mildew monthly.
Inspect and replace stones on schedule. Wipe the exterior with a soft damp cloth. Keep the area around the heater clear for airflow and keep the control panel dry. Once a year, have an electrician check the wiring and connections. If the room heats slowly or an element does not glow when the stones are pulled back, that element likely needs replacing, and that is work for a licensed electrician rather than a DIY repair.
Saunas, steam rooms, and cold plunges place real stress on the body. Consult your physician before use if you are pregnant, or if you have or may have a cardiovascular condition, high or low blood pressure, diabetes, a seizure disorder, a respiratory condition, impaired heat or cold sensation, or any other medical condition, and the same applies if you take medication affecting blood pressure, heart rate, hydration, or temperature regulation. Do not use under the influence of alcohol. Supervise children at all times. Stop your session and seek medical attention if you feel dizzy, faint, or unwell. See our Disclaimer for full details.
